Job summary

Geosyntec Consultants, Inc. is seeking a Senior Environmental Data Manager to lead the development and management of environmental data systems across Oakland, Walnut Creek, Davis, or Sacramento, California.

You will design database applications, automate data workflows, and ensure data quality for multidisciplinary environmental projects. Ideal candidates bring 8+ years of relational database experience, proficiency in SQL, ETL, Python or R, and a strong background in environmental data

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental science, chemistry, geography, computer science, engineering, or geology is required
• Advanced degree is preferred
• At least 8 years of technical training and experience in relational database technology
• Experience managing databases and developing ETL processes
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and Access, including complex formulas and data visualization
• Ability to write complex SQL queries and automate routine processes
• Experience automating processes with scripting languages such as Python or R
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Excellent attention to detail across quantitative work and written communications
• Knowledge of EarthSoft's EQuIS (preferred)
• Knowledge of lab data verification/validation (preferred)
• Experience with data submission to agency databases (preferred)
• Valid U.S. driver’s license (required)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage project-specific relational database applications using SQL Server and EQuIS
• Create workflows and metadata to automate data integration from multiple sources
• Manage environmental datasets across the data lifecycle
• Establish and perform QA/QC for data, systems and processes
• Compile, verify, analyze, and report large and diverse datasets
• Coordinate with laboratories, agencies, and data providers for data transfer
• Collect, transform, query, and analyze environmental datasets
• Deliver database management and data-visualization solutions to clients
• Travel to client or project sites as needed
