Job summary

Akima Intra-Data (AID) seeks an Environmental Manager to lead compliance programs across environmental, safety, and sustainability efforts at Arnold Air Force Base. You will supervise staff, oversee EBS activities, ensure regulatory alignment, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance.

The role requires deep knowledge of 40 CFR Part 312, strong leadership, and effective collaboration with government stakeholders.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, supervision, and direction to personnel supporting environmental compliance, pollution prevention, hazardous material and hazardous waste management, natural resources, ground safety, industrial hygiene, and related environmental programs.
  • Assign work, establish priorities, and monitor daily operations to ensure timely completion of contractual requirements.
  • Interpret contract requirements and the PWS and develop procedures, schedules, and training plans to ensure compliance with contract performance standards.
  • Conduct and oversee Environmental Baseline Surveys (EBS) and other environmental assessments in accordance with 40 CFR Part 312 and Air Force guidance.
  • Ensure all environmental assessments, reports, and regulatory documentation are completed accurately, on schedule, and in compliance with federal, state Air Force, and contractual requirements.
  • Oversee the branch self-inspection program to assess compliance, identify deficiencies, implement corrective actions, and report results to the COR.
  • Participate in Government inspections, audits, and no-notice evaluations and ensure timely resolution of identified deficiencies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with Government customers, company leadership, and regulatory agencies regarding branch operations and contract performance.
  • Investigate and resolve customer concerns while ensuring contract performance standards are maintained.
  • Supervise personnel activities including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, mentoring, performance evaluations, and employee development.
  • Counsel employees and initiate disciplinary actions, when necessary, in accordance with company policies, procedures, and labor agreements.
  • Develop employee work schedules, review and approve timecards, monitor leave usage, and ensure compliance with company timekeeping policies.
  • Requisition supplies, materials, and equipment; maintain inventories; monitor expenditures; and ensure purchases remain within the approved budget.
  • Coordinate the maintenance, accountability, and operational readiness of assigned vehicles and equipment.
  • Prepare reports, memoranda, presentations, correspondence, and other documentation required by company leadership and Government customers.
  • Promote a culture of environmental stewardship, workplace safety, regulatory compliance, continuous improvement, and exceptional customer service.

Education

Engineering or Science degree
PE license / Professional Geologist license
Master's degree preferred
Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to interpret and apply federal environmental regulations
