Job summary

Clēnera is seeking an Environmental Compliance Manager to oversee environmental programs across a portfolio of solar and energy storage projects in the United States. You will ensure permit execution, risk management, and full compliance from pre-construction through operations.

You’ll lead environmental planning, coordinate with development teams, review permit pathways, and manage budgets while engaging federal, state, and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, environmental planning, biology, ecology, natural resources, geography, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years in renewable energy environmental permitting, compliance, or consulting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn company software.

Responsibilities

• Liaise as Construction lead to coordinate environmental planning, permitting strategy, and risk management.
• Support environmental workstreams during pre-construction to align schedules and portfolio growth.
• Provide permitting strategies and pathways to optimize project success and reduce pre-construction risk.
• Lead internal teams and external consultants in environmental work during construction and operations.
• Develop environmental budgets, forecasts, and scopes of work; manage expenditures.
• Build relationships with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure ongoing compliance.
• Advise leadership on environmental risks, permitting challenges, and constructability.
• Collaborate across departments to integrate environmental requirements into planning.
• Review environmental studies, permit applications, and agency submissions.
• Develop internal standards and best practices to improve permitting and risk management.
• Escalate complex environmental issues impacting schedules or costs.
• Support executives with environmental recommendations and portfolio insights.
• Monitor regulations and industry trends to identify business impacts and opportunities.
• Maintain organizational excellence in timelines and deliverables.
