Job summary

Kyocera International, Inc. in San Diego, CA is seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to support production and ensure high-quality output in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. This role collaborates with administrative and production teams to sustain and enhance environmental programs.

The successful candidate will oversee regulatory compliance, engage with agencies, and ensure operations meet environmental laws and standards, with a focus on permits, reporting, and training initiatives.

Qualifications

• College degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field; experience may substitute for degree.
• Minimum 5+ years in environmental field, preferably in manufacturing/industrial setting.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local environmental regs and standards.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to convey regulatory info to non‑technical audiences.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Desirable certifications: CHMM, CPEA, ISO 14001 Lead Auditor.
• Must pass background check and drug screen; valid U.S. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regs (air, water, hazardous waste, chemical safety).
• Oversee acquisition, maintenance, and compliance of environmental permits.
• Coordinate inspections by regulatory agencies and keep documentation in order.
• Compile and submit environmental reports on time and accurately.
• Develop and deliver training on environmental regs, compliance procedures, and best practices.
• Implement and enforce environmental policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to identify gaps and improvements.
• Maintain detailed records of permits, reports, inspections, and training.
