Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist/Environmental Scientist to join our Earth & Environment team in NYC and other Northeast offices. The role involves audits, site assessments, EMS support, and regulatory reporting across industrial clients.

You will prepare technical reports, manage field investigations, and contribute to client relationships while maintaining safety and quality standards. Occasional travel and OSHA-related training are required for project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Environmental Policy, Engineering, Earth Science or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
• 5+ years of experience working knowledge of ISO 14001 EMS guidance.
• Must be able to pass a HAZWOPER physical and be medically able to wear a tight-fitting respirator.
• Experience with evaluating/maintaining environmental regulatory compliance in industrial settings.
• Valid US driver’s license.
• Travel up to 50% of the time. Overnight travel is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field assignments, such as environmental compliance audits, Phase 1 environmental site assessments and environmental inspections.
• Provide environmental compliance program support for industrial clients including developing procedures and permits, preparing and submitting periodic regulatory reports, and preparing and delivering environmental training programs.
• Develop ISO14001 EMS program support for industrial clients including program development and auditing.
• Prepare written and verbal technical reports, including audits, field investigations, regulatory research, data interpretation and presentation.
• Manage projects per client scopes of work and deliver high-quality reports on time and within budget.
• Assist in managing and developing client relationships.
• Maintain quality control standards for measurements, analysis, and reporting.
• Comply with safety guidelines and site procedures including sample collection and laboratory documentation.
• Work with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
• Adhere to Code of Conduct and company policies.
• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
• Travel to local sites and possible national travel as required.
