Job summary

The City of Santa Rosa seeks an Environmental Compliance Inspector III to enforce pretreatment regulations across the wastewater system. You will inspect industrial dischargers, evaluate permit needs, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal rules while coordinating with internal staff and external regulators.

The ideal candidate has four years of inspection experience, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate findings clearly.

Qualifications

• Experience in industrial wastewater pretreatment programs and evaluating new regulations.
• Detail-oriented, self-motivated, good judgement, thorough follow-through on inspections and enforcement.
• Experience delivering presentations and conducting complex compliance monitoring.
• Ability to build relationships with dischargers, staff, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Ability to review building plans for compliance with pretreatment regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and implement sewer codes and discharge permits.
• Evaluate industrial discharges and prepare permits.
• Inspect facilities for regulatory compliance.
• Develop Pollution Prevention Programs and maintain records.
• Plan enforcement actions for non-compliance.
• Respond to spills and complaints from industrial dischargers.
• Review development plans for wastewater containment and discharge.
