Job summary

State of Connecticut, DEEP, is seeking a Supervising Environmental Analyst in the Solid and Hazardous Waste Permitting Group based in Hartford. Hybrid schedule with standard 8–5 hours, leading a team responsible for environmental analyses, permitting decisions, and coordination with EPA and stakeholders.

The role oversees staff, develops policies, manages budgets, and represents the agency at hearings. Strong leadership, technical analysis, and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Eight (8) years of experience involving technical analysis and interpretation of environmental program data or planning and implementing environmental programs.
  • One (1) year of the General Experience must have been in an advanced working/working lead level capacity.
  • College training in a scientific or technical discipline related to the environmental field may substitute for the General Experience on a 15-semester-hour equals 0.5-year basis.
  • Education may substitute for up to five years of the General Experience.
  • Master’s degree may substitute for five years of the General Experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises a section engaged in development and implementation of environmental plans and programs.
  • Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews work of staff.
  • Provides staff training and assistance.
  • Conducts performance evaluations.
  • Monitors and testifies at hearings.
  • Directs administration of state and federal program budgets.
  • Serves as agency representative at hearings and conferences.
