Job summary

MDAEdge in Bend, Oregon is seeking an Engineer with a strong background in environmental and solid waste treatment to lead engineering and construction at solid waste facilities, mentoring junior staff and coordinating with senior management.

You will engage consultants, manage permits, oversee budgets, and collaborate across teams to deliver compliant, cost-effective solutions for a diverse client base.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical or Environmental preferred).
• Minimum five years of experience in construction and landfill operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and standard software.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to remote locations.
• Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Engage, direct, and manage consulting firms for tasks at solid waste facilities, including permit applications, construction plans, site monitoring, and regulatory submissions.
• Maintain regulatory relationships and represent us in permit meetings, hearings, and site inspections.
• Oversee landfill construction projects from design to final approval, including consultant/contractor management, budgets, bid preparation, contract administration, and QA/QC coordination.
• Manage capital budgets for engineering and construction projects and report to local management and corporate leadership.
• Coordinate landfill capacity tracking: airspace calculations, capacity projections, and fill sequencing plans.
• Conduct regular site evaluations to ensure compliance with construction and permit documentation and identify expansion opportunities.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop cost-effective engineering solutions for environmental, operational, and compliance challenges.
• Support acquisition reviews and divestiture evaluations with pro forma modeling and due diligence coordination.
• Mentor and train technical staff to foster professional growth.
