Job summary

Deerfield Academy is seeking a Software Developer to design, build, and support web applications, databases, and system integrations. The role emphasizes modern development practices, collaboration with ITS, and delivering scalable, secure enterprise solutions across administrative departments.

You will lead design efforts, develop modules, and automate data processes, while adhering to SDLC standards and code reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field is required.
• 5-7 years of progressive professional experience in web application and database design/development.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure Functions, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Fabric, or Power Platform is preferred.
• Experience with CI/CD concepts and code deployment best practices is required.
• Experience consuming REST APIs and building data pipelines from SaaS platforms is required.
• Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python or JavaScript) is strongly preferred.
• Experience with modern SDLC methodologies, including code review, version control (Git), automated testing, CI/CD, and change management is required.
• Experience integrating web applications with enterprise data sources, third-party software, and web APIs is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead the assessment, technical design, and delivery of high-impact software solutions for departmental business challenges.
• Develop and deliver web applications, modules, and data interfaces using server-side languages, database structures, and web technologies.
• Foster consistent standards across the team and support modern development workflows.
• Design and test interfaces for data flow and data integration between software solutions; support CI/CD and change management.
• Identify and implement automation to streamline manual data processes and administrative workflows.
• Create and maintain documentation for web services and processes.
• Collaborate with the enterprise applications team on secure, reliable, and maintainable applications.
• Work with system and network administrators to manage and troubleshoot web applications.
• Evaluate vendor products for cost-effectiveness and integration with existing systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
