Job summary

City of Lubbock seeks a senior network engineer to design, implement, and maintain city-wide voice, data, and video networks, including UC systems. You will lead installations, manage high-availability infrastructure, and guide IT staff and departments in network solutions.

The role requires a bachelor's degree in CS/MIS and at least five years in enterprise networking, plus multiple security and networking certifications. CJIS background checks and strict vetting apply.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of enterprise networking protocols and architecture (BGP, EVPN, OSPF, IPsec, 802.1x).
• Hands-on experience with Extreme Networks and Fabric automation (CLI), Juniper, Cisco, Ubiquiti, Siemens networking equipment, and Palo Alto Next-Generation Firewalls.
• Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware) and SIEM log ingestion.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and staff.
• Successfully pass CJIS criminal history background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Lead installation, administration, and optimization of enterprise network infrastructure.
• Provide advanced guidance to IT staff and customers.
• Architect and support high-availability network systems.
• Collaborate with security teams on tools, policies, and perimeters.
• Translate business needs into network requirements documentation.
