Job summary

M&T Bank in Buffalo, NY is seeking an Enterprise Data Analyst Senior to turn large data sets into actionable insights across business units. You will mentor junior analysts, manage end-to-end analytics projects, and partner with product owners and data engineers to translate business needs into data solutions.

The role requires strong SQL and Python skills, data governance knowledge, and experience with data flows, mappings, and risk controls in a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years related experience, or 9 years combined higher education/work experience
• Experience pulling data from SQL platforms
• Experience performing user acceptance testing for data products
• Basic knowledge of data management
• Knowledge of data cataloging and data lineage tools
• Experience querying data modeled in various techniques
• Experience developing source-to-target mappings
• Ideal: experience on an Agile team

Responsibilities

• Identify authoritative data sources and accurate data fields for internal projects
• Maintain advanced knowledge of products/services and how data supports them
• Wrangle data with SQL or Python for analysis and delivery
• Document complex data flows and mappings across use cases
• Develop enterprise data solutions for problem statements
• Prepare and execute large end-to-end test plans and scripts
• Mentor junior analysts on data policies and procedures
• Translate business data needs into source-to-target mappings for data engineers
• Conduct root-cause analysis of defects and triage to relevant teams
• Perform impact analysis before changes
• Communicate data flows, pros/cons and limitations to stakeholders
• Adhere to risk and regulatory standards
• Promote diversity and support M&T Bank brand
• Maintain internal controls and respond to audits
• Complete other related duties as assigned
