Job summary

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is seeking a Senior Enterprise Architect to define, govern, and evolve enterprise-wide technology architecture that supports business strategy, risk reduction, and secure, rapid delivery. You will shape target-state architectures across application, data, integration, security, and cloud domains in a Cloud-first, digital transformation context.

In this role, you will mentor teams, lead governance, and partner with security and compliance to ensure

Qualifications

• Define and govern enterprise architecture across application, data, security, integration, and cloud domains.
• Strong architecture communication skills to explain tradeoffs to technical and executive stakeholders.
• Experience developing target-state architectures and roadmaps aligned to business capabilities and investment priorities.
• Broad cloud architecture proficiency (Azure preferred) including networking, identity, resilience, observability, and cost management.
• Security architecture knowledge including IAM, threat modeling, encryption/key management, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA).
• CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, and operational readiness practices.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain enterprise architecture principles, reference architectures, and standards across domains.
• Develop target-state architectures and roadmaps aligned to business capabilities and investment priorities.
• Lead architecture governance ensuring compliant, secure-by-design solutions.
• Provide end-to-end solution architecture for initiatives (application design, data flows, security controls).
• Guide application modernization and platform adoption with clear tradeoffs and migration paths.
• Shape cloud architecture guardrails consistent with an Azure-first approach.
• Define data architecture direction to enable analytics and AI use cases.
• Partner with security/compliance to address threat modeling, encryption, and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate technologies and vendors for enterprise fit and total cost of ownership.
• Mentor architects and engineering teams; promote best practices and reduce technical debt.
