Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Application Packaging & Modernization Engineer to define, build, and continuously improve how end-user applications are packaged, tested, and deployed enterprise-wide. You will optimize SCCM/Intune/JAMF workflows, automate packaging, and drive scalable deployment strategies across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

You’ll partner with endpoint engineering, security, and operations to enable faster, quieter releases, better monitoring, and a unified end-user software

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/IS/Engineering or equivalent.
• 6+ years in application packaging, endpoint engineering or related roles.
• Hands-on packaging and deployment on SCCM, Intune, JAMF, or similar.
• Experience designing deployment campaigns for varying update frequencies.
• Builds silent install, detection, dependency handling, and uninstall support.
• Supports Windows/macOS/Linux/VDI in large enterprises.
• Knows deployment rings, pilot validation, rollback planning, and user communication.

Responsibilities

• Own the packaging and deployment engineering strategy within End User Engineering.
• Redesign packaging processes to be modern, automated, and scalable.
• Standardize low-touch delivery patterns and reduce customization.
• Package, test, and maintain applications for SCCM/Intune/JAMF environments.
• Design deployment campaigns with minimal end-user disruption.
• Create packaging standards for installation, updates, patching, rollback, and remediation.
• Develop silent-install packages, detection methods, and post-install validation.
• Automate recurring packaging, testing, deployment, and reporting workflows.
• Troubleshoot failures across Windows, macOS, Linux and VDIs.
• Track metrics on deployment success, disruption, and remediation outcomes.
