Job summary

NSWCPD Philadelphia Division is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to support installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard MCS, DC, and Network Systems. The role is a Key Personnel position reporting to the Prime Contractor HR and the Government TPOC/COR.

The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with shipboard electronics, MCS, and network systems, along with leadership capabilities.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED or trade/industrial school.
• 15 yrs Engineering Technician experience including 10 yrs troubleshooting with electrical schematics and DMMs.
• 10 yrs experience with machinery control system computers and peripherals.
• 5 yrs lead engineering technician; 3 yrs CVN-68 or comparable class; 3 yrs waterfront representative at civilian/military shipyards.

Responsibilities

• Serve as permanent onsite waterfront representative for ship checks, installations, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot shipboard/remote MCS issues; perform software loads on Windows/Linux, PLC processors, firmware.
• Repair shipboard hardware/electronic equipment (cable harnesses, terminal boxes, connectors, rack-in/out, terminations).
• Troubleshoot computer hardware, OS, peripherals, sensors, circuits, and switches.
• Develop installation/troubleshooting/test assessment plans; provide status/metrics/trip reports.
• Track shipments; identify drawing discrepancies and equipment deficiencies.
• Provide shipboard operator/maintenance training; conduct test procedures during shipboard evolutions.
• Track failures/issues in SPIR database.

Position Overview

Seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to support installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of shipboard MCS, DC, and Network Systems for NSWCPD Code 513, supporting CVN68, CVN78, Columbia, FF(X), Amphibious, FMS, and USCG platforms.

This is a Key Personnel position. Reports to Prime Contractor for HR/administrative matters; receives work direction from Government TPOC/COR.

Key Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 15 yrs Engineering Technician; 10 yrs troubleshooting with electrical schematics and digital multimeter (Navy/USCG equipment); 10 yrs machinery control system computers (hard drives, peripherals, software, hardware/software troubleshooting); 5 yrs lead engineering technician; 3 yrs Nimitz (CVN-68) Class or comparable CVN class; 3 yrs waterfront representative at civilian/military shipyards
• Knowledge: Electrical schematics, digital multimeters, electronic test equipment
• Citizenship: U.S. Citizen
• Security: Secret eligible
• Language: Fluent English

Preferred: Nimitz (CVN-68) or comparable CVN class MCS experience; LBES/LBTF integration; active Secret clearance

Work Conditions: M-F, 0600-1800; OT pre-approved; limited telework; CONUS/OCONUS travel may be required; 92% onsite at NSWCPD Philadelphia
