Job summary

GreenXT is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support surface ships in Philadelphia, PA. The role focuses on HM&E systems, life-cycle management, and technical data management for NSWCPD programs.

The candidate will provide engineering support across AC/R and auxiliary systems, participate in MACHALTs/SCDs, review designs, and assist in training and on-site testing. Requires DoD clearance and shipboard experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance.
• 3 years of experience in Navy Ship Auxiliary systems (AC/R, HES-C, Auxiliary Fuel, Lube Oil, Pumps, Smart Valves).
• 3 years of experience in Navy Ship Auxiliary systems, including distributed machinery.
• Control systems and software related to Navy auxiliaries; testing.
• Knowledge of NSWCPD System Engineering Program (SEP) and ship change documents (SCDs).
• Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. and work on ladders, ships, shipyards, and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Provide in-service engineering for AC/R, Auxiliary, Combat Support, Life Support and Ventilation, and/or Compressed Air Systems.
• Provide engineering support, test procedure development, testing, and onsite coordination for MACHALTs, ECPs, and SCDs.
• Review preliminary and detail designs; identify discrepancies and interferences with vessel configuration.
• Provide ship system configuration, testing, training, support, troubleshooting, and assessments of HM&E systems.
• Conduct pre- and post-installation ship checks to verify installation drawings.
• Participate in NSWCPD SEP activities, meetings, action items, training, and assessments; support SEP tools and processes.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide in-service engineering for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (AC/R), Auxiliary, Combat Support, Life Support and Ventilation, and/or Compressed Air Systems
• Provide engineering/technical support, test procedure development, testing, and onsite coordination support for programs, including Machine Alterations (MACHALTs), engineering change proposals, and/or ship change documents (SCDs).
• Review preliminary designs, detail designs, and drawings; Identify discrepancies between installation drawings, and actual vessel configuration; identify interferences
• Provide Ship system configuration, testing, training, support, troubleshooting, and assessments of HM&E systems
• Conduct pre- and post-installation ship checks to verify the accuracy of installation drawings
• Actively participate in the NSWCPD System Engineering Program (SEP), which includes attending meetings; completing action items; participating on sub teams, and participating in training, and assessments. Provide support for Systems Engineering Plan tools and processes

Required Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline from an accredited college or university
• Active DoD Secret Level Security Clearance
• Three (3) years of experience in: Navy Ship Auxiliary systems, including AC/R, HES-C, Auxiliary Fuel, and Lube Oil systems, Auxiliary Pumps, and Smart Valves, Auxiliary Machinery, and testing of these systems.
• Three (3) years of experience in: Navy Ship Auxiliary systems, including distributed machinery
• Control systems and software; Auxiliary Fuel, and Lube Oil systems; Auxiliary Pumps, and Smart Valves; Auxiliary Machinery, and the testing of these systems
• Knowledge of NSWCPD System Engineering Program (SEP), Alterations (MACHALTs), engineering change proposals, and/or ship change documents (SCDs) processes
• Ability to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 30 lbs.
• Ability to work on and climb ladders, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.
