Job summary

Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is seeking a Supervisory Engineering Technician as the Assistant Chief Engineer in the Waterfront Support Branch, Engineering and Planning Department. The role oversees policy development, direction of division work, and training needs while ensuring cost controls and charging accuracy within the division.

Applicants should have specialized experience at GS-13 level or equivalent in submarine maintenance support, design, and regulatory compliance, with strong planning

Qualifications

Experience analyzing and improving submarine maintenance support capabilities.
Experience in submarine design, construction, and operation of submarine systems.
Experience codifying standards and implementing guidelines from DoD, the Navy, and regulations.
Experience planning and scheduling work, setting priorities, and evaluating performance.
Experience resolving technical and policy-related engineering problems.

Responsibilities

Provide guidance and leadership to staff and higher commands.
Direct establishment of new policies, instructions, and procedures for analysis, progress, and control of Division work.
Determine training requirements for subordinates.
Ensure compliance with shipyard cost control procedures and charging practices within the Division.
