Job summary

Norfolk Naval Shipyard is seeking a Supervisory Engineering Technician in the Material Planning Branch to oversee acquisition of shop materials and services for non-nuclear ship repairs. You will plan, coordinate, and oversee complex material procurement efforts, coordinating with multiple project teams across the shipyard.

The role requires strong engineering acumen, the ability to lead a team, and effective liaison across departments to ensure timely and quality work while reducing unnecessary

Qualifications

• Experience applying engineering concepts, principles, methods, precedents, and techniques to solve problems and improve processes.
• Experience in managing procurement of shop materials and services for non-nuclear industrial ship repairs.
• Experience in planning and coordinating complex acquisition plans for multiple ship work projects.
• Experience performing liaison across the shipyard to resolve differences and build relationships.
• Experience using written and verbal communication in administrative supervisory roles.

Responsibilities

• Identify and acquire shop work materials/services for non-nuclear work in support of industrial efforts.
• Determine goals and develop plans to perform required functions.
• Identify causes and take action to reduce dollar value of material ordered in excess.
• Plan and coordinate complex acquisition plans for multiple ship work projects.
• Perform liaison across the shipyard with personnel at all levels of responsibility.
• Assign work to subordinate staff and ensure timely completion and quality of work.
