Job summary

The City of El Paso seeks an engineering para‑professional to provide journey level support across multiple design and inspection tasks. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing plans, coordinating surveys, and inspecting construction sites to ensure compliance with technical codes and regulations.

You'll develop design drawings for water, sewer, drainage and site projects, perform cost analyses, and collaborate with consultants, contractors and inspectors to advance city programs.

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Drafting Technology with two years para‑professional engineering experience.
• Alternatively 30 hours of college credits in Engineering or Drafting Technology with four years of construction or engineering experience.
• Some positions may require a Texas Class “C” Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide journey level technical support: plans and specifications development and review, survey coordination, and construction site inspection.
• Prepare and review documents for outsider review and direct minor project teams.
• Develop, draft and review intricate plans for water, sewer, drainage, site development, or renovation projects.
• Identify materials, prepare cost analyses, and coordinate with consultants, contractors, engineers and inspectors.
• Supervise or lead assigned staff, if applicable, and ensure compliance with codes, regulations and safety rules.
