Job summary

El Paso County 911 District seeks a journey-level engineering support technician to assist with plans, specifications, surveys, and site inspections for a variety of city facilities and programs. You will work with engineers, architects, and contractors to prepare designs and oversee fieldwork.

The role involves coordinating with consultants, contractors, and inspectors, reviewing project plans, and ensuring compliance with codes.

Qualifications

Associate’s Degree or higher in Engineering or Drafting Technology or closely related field.
Two years of para-professional engineering experience, or 30 college credits with four years of construction/engineering experience.
Texas Class C Driver’s License or equivalent may be required for some positions.
Plans and specifications development and review for designated projects.
Coordinate and oversee site inspections and field verification to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.

Responsibilities

Develop, draft and review intricate plans and specifications for designated projects (water, sewer, drainage, site development, etc.).
Coordinate construction design projects with consultants, contractors, engineers and inspectors.
Conduct construction site inspections to verify conformance to technical codes and ordinances.
Assist in preparing grant applications and evaluating bid specifications and project costs.
Supervise or lead assigned staff as needed and provide training and development.
