Job summary

State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Highways Division, seeks an Engineering Technician V to perform moderately difficult sub-professional engineering tasks under supervision and to supervise a small team of engineering aids. The role requires practical knowledge of engineering systems, math skills, and the ability to apply engineering terminology in solving problems.

The position offers a monthly salary of $4,221 to $5,338 and is contingent on funding and qualifications.

Qualifications

To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements: Completion of high school or equivalent with mathematics coursework.
Engineering-support experience: four years in inspection, testing, design, surveying, drafting, or construction requiring knowledge of engineering terminology and math skills.
For Engineering Technician V, at least one year in a role comparable to Engineering Aid IV, or two years at Engineering Aid III level in the State government.

Responsibilities

Apply principles, methods and techniques in a specific or limited area of engineering.
Perform moderately difficult sub-professional, technical functions in support of professional engineering activities.
Supervise and work with a small group of engineering aids and perform duties as required.
Possibly lead a small team and assign routine tasks to lower level staff.
