Job summary

County of Kaua'i is seeking an Engineering Support Technician III to provide sub-professional technical support for professional engineering activities within the Department of Public Works Engineering. You will work under general supervision, assisting with statistics, cost analyses, and planning studies to support engineering projects.

Typical duties include reviewing water service connections, testing materials, and ensuring compliance with environmental guidelines.

Qualifications

• Training and experience: high school diploma and four (4) years of specialized work experience.
• Qualifying specialized work experience: engineering-oriented support functions requiring engineering terminology knowledge and math skills.
• License: valid motor vehicle operator’s license (Hawaii type 3 or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Performs complex sub-professional technical work in support of engineering activities, including statistics and cost/volume computations.
• Reviews water service connections and facilities clearance forms for compliance.
• Determines consistency of projects with environmental assessments and guidelines.
• Conducts tests and inspections of construction materials and processes per specs/plans.
• Operates CAD/CAM or supports engineering operations as a network administrator; may supervise lower level staff.
