Job summary

Yakima County is seeking an Engineering Senior Manager II for the Utilities Division to lead water and wastewater programs, develop strategies, and supervise staff. The role requires a PE license in WA, strong leadership, and experience in public utility management.

The position oversees contracts, regulatory compliance, and coordination with officials while guiding long-range planning and budget execution for multiple water systems and sewer facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with eight years of progressively responsible experience, including three years in a supervisory role.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) certification in Washington State or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Valid WA driver's license and proof of insurance if requested.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop and implement strategies and programs to achieve Utilities Division goals and priorities.
• Manage the Division's resources including budget, staff and equipment.
• Develop and interpret policies and procedures and monitor compliance.
• Supervise staff, assign and review work, and address performance and discipline.
• Represent the County at events, coordinate with officials and stakeholders, and respond to inquiries.
