This role oversees the core backend powering every Airtable base and guides a team of systems engineers to deliver high‑quality scale, reliability, and performance improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering experience at staff or TL-level
• 4+ years of management experience or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and grow a team of high-functioning systems engineers responsible for the core backend of every Airtable base.
• Engage directly with enterprise customers, including pre- and post-sales contexts, and support high-stakes deals.
• Partner closely with senior staff ICs on deeply technical decisions across backend product initiatives.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to drive technical decisions and build high-quality, sustainable products.
• Mentor and grow engineers, including scaling impact of senior staff and developing early-career engineers.
• Drive operational excellence, implement scalable processes, and maintain agility in a dynamic environment.
