Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead the MyBlue member portal and mobile apps. This player-coach role combines hands-on technical work with strategic leadership to deliver reliable, scalable digital experiences for members.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in a management/leadership role.
Track record of leading high-performing engineering teams delivering high-quality software.
Strong technical background across cloud platforms (AWS), Java/JavaScript/Python, and modern web technologies.
Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and inspire engineering teams for MyBlue portal and mobile apps.
Develop and execute a strategic technical vision and roadmap for the Digital platform.
Drive architecture, development, and deployment of scalable, secure features.
Collaborate with product, UX/UI, and stakeholders to define the Digital roadmap.
Oversee full SDLC using Agile methodologies; ensure platform reliability and uptime.
Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for Digital projects.
