Job summary

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts is seeking a Senior Manager of Software Engineering to lead a skilled team for the MyBlue portal and mobile apps. This hands-on leader will drive a technical vision, architecture, and delivery of scalable digital experiences for members.

You will collaborate with product, UX/UI, and business stakeholders, ensuring secure, reliable software and on-time delivery while mentoring engineers and fostering innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a management or leadership role where you remained actively technical.
• Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing engineering teams to deliver high-quality software.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and inspire the engineering teams dedicated to the MyBlue member portal and mobile applications.
• Develop and execute a strategic technical vision and roadmap for the Digital platform.
• Drive architectural design, development, and implementation of new features for Digital.
• Partner with product management, UX/UI design, and stakeholders to define the Digital roadmap.
• Oversee the SDLC for the Digital platforms using agile methodologies.
• Ensure operational excellence including incident response, monitoring, and uptime.
• Manage budgets, resources, and timelines for Digital engineering projects.
• Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and digital trends.
• Establish and enforce engineering best practices including code reviews and QA automation.
