Job summary

Fivetran, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Core team behind dbt V2, a Rust-based engine powering dbt Fusion.

You will balance technical leadership with people management, product partnership, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver a GA-ready engine and a scalable platform. As a core leader, you will manage a team of engineers, coordinate with Product and orchestration teams, and guide architectural decisions while preserving velocity in a fast-growing data

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams with multiple priorities and integration points.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals; senior/staff engineer or technical lead.
• Ability to drive system design from problem definition to delivery.
• Translate ambiguous requirements into credible engineering plans and tradeoffs.
• Demonstrated judgment balancing roadmap with reliability and maintainability.
• Hands-on technical orientation; stay close to code and engineering details.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a fluid team of ~8 engineers working on a critical dbt component.
• Establish clarity across a complex roadmap with multiple stakeholders.
• Partner with Product to translate requirements into engineering scope, sequencing, and estimates.
• Balance new feature development with engine maintenance and GA product stability.
• Guide end-to-end design across engine and integrations (orchestration, IDEs, adapters, warehouses, LakeCompute).
• Support engineers in making sound tradeoffs on value, quality, and risk.
• Contribute to technical design and implementation alongside the team.
• Coordinate initiatives across teams with other engineering leaders.
• Foster an environment for high-quality work and ownership of technical challenges.
• Shape the next phase of dbt Fusion as a language-aware transformation engine.
