Job summary

Fivetran is seeking a hands-on Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Core team behind the next‑generation dbt V2 engine. You’ll combine software‑engineering judgment with people leadership to drive a cross‑functional technical area and ensure a stable GA product.

You’ll guide ~8 engineers, align stakeholders, and translate ambiguous requirements into credible engineering scope and milestones, balancing feature work with maintenance and documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams through multiple priorities and integration points.
• Strong software-engineering fundamentals and hands-on leadership.
• Ability to lead system design from problem to delivery.
• Translate complex product requirements into engineering estimates and milestones.
• Balance roadmap delivery with reliability, maintainability and debt.
• Hands-on orientation, close to code and engineering details.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a ~8-person team on a critical dbt V2 engine component.
• Set clear, technically grounded roadmap with multiple stakeholders.
• Partner with Product to translate requirements into actionable scope and milestones.
• Balance feature work with engine maintenance and documentation for GA product.
• Guide end-to-end design across engine, orchestration, IDE, adapters, warehouses, and LakeCompute.
• Support tradeoffs across product value, quality, performance, and risk.
• Collaborate with engineering leaders to coordinate cross-team initiatives.
• Foster an environment where engineers own meaningful technical problems.
