Job summary

Akamai Technologies is hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Compute platform's integration layer and backend orchestration services. You will shape strategy, elevate SDLC, and direct Team Leads, Engineers, and Managers to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions for diverse consumers.

You will guide architectural shifts to container-based orchestration, partner with product and SRE teams, and foster a culture of ownership and knowledge sharing across the organization.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of relevant engineering leadership experience in cloud/web services.
• Experience managing high-performing engineering teams (Cloud/Web).
• Background in distributed systems, microservices, RESTful APIs.
• Proven track record migrating services to container orchestration and modular designs.
• Experience ensuring security, performance and reliability in mission-critical environments.
• Excellent communication across diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Set strategic direction and roadmap for customer-facing API and internal orchestration services.
• Oversee Team Leads, Engineers, and Managers to deliver scalable, secure solutions.
• Drive architectural shifts to container orchestration and modular designs.
• Establish lifecycle audits, improve observability, and strengthen security posture.
• Collaborate with product, SRE, and other teams to align requirements and UX.
