Job summary

Upbound is building the Intelligent Control Plane for the Agentic AI Era, unifying Hub, Console, Marketplace and middleware into a single, scalable SaaS platform. The Senior Manager will guide architecture and scale of the Management Plane, leading senior engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, revenue-ready surfaces.

The role combines strategic direction with hands-on leadership, shaping product experiences for customers while aligning with finance, security, and success teams

Qualifications

• 7+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years managing engineers directly.
• Experience building and operating multi-tenant SaaS products at scale.
• Strong API design fundamentals, including versioning, backward compatibility, and designing for third-party consumers.
• Hands-on experience with at least one commerce or platform middleware domain: billing, metering, licensing, entitlements, or identity and access management.
• Track record of owning production reliability for customer-facing services, including incident response and on-call culture.
• Has built or intentionally restructured a team, not only inherited one.

Responsibilities

• Own the long-term technical direction for Hub, Console, Marketplace, and middleware. Ensure a single coherent experience across environments.
• Own systems that turn product usage into revenue: metering, usage aggregation, billing, licensing, and entitlement enforcement.
• Ensure the Hub API is first-class for autonomous agents and evolve the Console toward a multi-modal experience.
• Lead senior ICs and tech leads; grow the team and raise the hiring bar, ensuring production excellence.
• Partner with Product, Design, GTM, Finance, and Customer Success on security, multi-tenancy, packaging, and entitlements.
