Bios Life, a Boston-based, venture-backed company at the intersection of oncology, ML, and clinical data, is building the infrastructure behind front-line cancer detection. We are hiring our first Engineering Manager to define how we build—from architecture to team culture—as we move from early product to scaled, production systems.

This foundational leadership role shapes the engineering organization, works directly with leadership, and builds systems that will impact patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering experience.
• 5+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
• Experience mentoring engineers and improving team effectiveness.
• Strong communication and collaboration across engineering, product, and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a small, high-performing engineering team with hands-on contribution and leadership.
• Coordinate engineering execution across the application platform with domain architecture leadership.
• Translate product requirements into scalable, maintainable systems with PMs and leadership.
• Drive quality, observability, testing, and development processes as the platform grows.
• Guide architectural tradeoffs balancing speed, maintainability, and long-term complexity.
• Contribute to production code and cross-cutting initiatives as needed.
• Support adoption of AI-assisted development workflows without compromising quality.
