We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to serve as the organization’s most senior engineering leader within a lean, growing environment. This position will provide strategic technical leadership, oversee the full product development lifecycle, and establish scalable engineering processes and standards.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product development, engineering leadership, and manufacturing, with the ability to lead teams, drive new product initiatives, and collaborate effectively across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership & Strategy
- Lead new product development initiatives from concept through design, development, testing, and launch.
- Oversee product design using SolidWorks and, as needed, AutoCAD.
- Define product offerings, technical specifications, features, and areas of competitive differentiation.
- Establish engineering standards, design practices, and development methodologies.
- Develop and continuously improve the company’s formal product lifecycle and engineering processes.
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction across engineering initiatives.
- Directly manage, mentor, and develop a team of senior and junior engineers.
- Establish clear goals, expectations, and performance standards for the engineering organization.
- Provide coaching, performance management, and career development support.
- Build a collaborative, accountable, and results-oriented engineering culture.
- Develop the team’s capabilities to support future product and business growth.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with Marketing on product positioning, technical documentation, product messaging, and launch readiness.
- Collaborate with Purchasing and Production to ensure manufacturability, quality, supply-chain alignment, and cost objectives.
- Partner with Sales on technical enablement, customer escalations, product requirements, and pricing input.
- Serve as the senior engineering point of contact for cross-functional technical decisions and product-related issues.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
Experience
- 8+ years of engineering experience, preferably within a manufacturing or product-driven organization.
- Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and managing senior-level technical resources.
- Proven experience taking products from concept through development and commercial launch.
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and production-oriented product development.
Technical & Leadership Skills
- Strong product development and engineering lifecycle expertise.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks; AutoCAD experience is a plus.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM, cost considerations, and product quality.
- Experience with ERP systems and engineering/product documentation.
- Strong strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Ability to balance technical priorities with business, cost, manufacturing, and customer requirements.
