A growing advanced manufacturing organization serving customers in the medical device, robotics, automation, semiconductor, and life sciences industries is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers while driving the successful launch and execution of complex customer programs.
This is a highly visible leadership role where you'll combine team management, customer interaction, technical problem-solving, and project oversight to ensure products move efficiently from concept through production. The ideal candidate enjoys working directly with customers, leading engineering talent, and driving continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Manufacturing Engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the engineering leader for customer programs, ensuring successful execution from quote review and feasibility assessment through production launch and ongoing support.
- Partner closely with customers to support Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), value engineering initiatives, and technical troubleshooting.
- Oversee the development and implementation of manufacturing processes, work instructions, tooling, fixtures, and assembly methods for electromechanical products.
- Support new business opportunities by evaluating manufacturing feasibility, risks, costs, and production requirements for new programs.
- Collaborate with commercial teams to develop accurate labor, material, and process estimates for customer quotations and new business opportunities.
- Lead root cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts related to production, quality, and process performance.
- Drive successful New Product Introduction (NPI) activities and ensure smooth transitions from development into full-scale manufacturing.
- Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and operational excellence initiatives to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Partner with operations, quality, supply chain, and executive leadership on strategic growth initiatives, technology investments, and long-term manufacturing planning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process engineering, or production engineering environments.
- Prior leadership experience managing engineers, technical teams, or engineering projects.
- Strong background in discrete manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, precision manufacturing, or complex industrial products.
- Experience managing multiple customer programs and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to interface directly with customers and lead technical discussions related to manufacturing processes and project execution.
- Proven problem-solving and project management skills.
- Working knowledge of quality systems, continuous improvement methodologies, and structured problem-solving techniques.
- SolidWorks experience preferred; PDM experience is a plus.
