Job summary

Symetra is seeking a Senior Manager to lead the Applications Development team in the Retirement Division. You will guide a group of engineers building and enhancing annuity-related applications, with a focus on modern technologies, APIs, and scalable delivery.

You will partner with Product and internal stakeholders, drive architectural and process improvements, and mentor leaders across teams to ensure value, quality, and sustainable delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field.
• 9+ years of relevant experience, including 2+ years managing technical teams.
• Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams.
• Strong software engineering background with C#/.NET, TypeScript, or Python.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical direction to the engineering team.
• Guide adoption of modern technologies and drive system-wide improvements.
• Lead delivery across multiple projects, aligning resources with business priorities.
• Improve development processes, tools, and team scalability.
• Mentor future leaders and promote continuous learning and innovation.
• Partner with business leaders to align technology solutions with strategic goals.
• Serve as senior engineering partner to Product leadership and PI planning.
