Job summary

Symetra is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the delivery of high-quality, scalable software that powers our AI-enabled products. You’ll design core capabilities and APIs, define patterns, and mentor engineers across cross-functional teams.

You’ll work with AWS or Google Cloud, containerized workloads, and modern frontend stacks like TypeScript/React to build secure, reliable services that scale with Symetra’s growth.

Qualifications

• Experience leading delivery and shaping design within a team.
• Built and operated production services and APIs.
• Hands-on with cloud infrastructure on AWS or Google Cloud, esp. containerized workloads.
• Strong problem-solving and communication with stakeholders.
• Use AI coding agents effectively in day-to-day work.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of secure, high-quality, performant code and reusable solutions.
• Drive design patterns and shape our architecture through reviews.
• Improve testing, automation, and deployment processes.
• Strengthen security, performance, and reliability, and lead root-cause analysis on production issues.
• Mentor other engineers on the team.
