Job summary

AeroVironment seeks an Engineering Development Technician III to work on advanced unmanned systems, contributing to development, build, integration and maintenance for defense and commercial applications.

Responsibilities include fabrication, troubleshooting, fixture/tools development, and design feedback to improve performance, safety and cost. Strong emphasis on documentation, compliance, and hands-on testing in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent or technical school certificate.
• 7+ years of technical experience in machining, composites, rapid prototyping and electronics.
• Proficiency with MS Office and general computer skills.
• Familiarity with aircraft and/or remote control experience.
• Deep knowledge of machine shop tools and related systems.
• Experience building fixtures, tools, parts or electrical devices.
• Ability to develop build/assembly documentation.
• Expertise in Fabrication, Composites, Mechanics or Electronics.

Responsibilities

• Support mechanical, electrical, and composite fabrication; troubleshoot and test integrated systems.
• Operate and maintain shop tools and equipment.
• Meet timelines and prepare hardware for milestones.
• Attend meetings to discuss schedules and hardware status.
• Document processes and build techniques for readiness and handoff.
• Assemble low-volume prototype phase components.
• Fabricate development fixtures, tools or molds.
• Provide design feedback to improve performance, manufacturability, and cost.
• Ensure shop areas are safe, clean, and organized.
• Maintain explosives safety program; other duties as assigned.
