Job summary

AeroVironment is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to collaborate with our Design team on unmanned systems for defense and commercial use.

The role spans requirements definition, concept design, prototyping, and verification testing, with cross-functional work across controls, software, and hardware disciplines. Responsibilities include requirements traceability, weekly progress updates, subsystem coordination, performance evaluations, and data-driven model development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, CS/Engineering, Electrical, Aerospace, or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 8–12 years in a systems engineering role (Aerospace preferred).
• Experience with requirements traceability and system development cycles.
• Strong Matlab and office software proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Manage requirements traceability and evolution through the system development cycle.
• Provide weekly status of system development progress with requirements burn down.
• Allocate requirements to subsystem & engineering coordination.
• Evaluate system performance thresholds and provide direction.
• Develop instrumented flight test vectors and data acquisition.
• Review and interpret customer specifications effectively.
