Job summary

OpenTeams is seeking a Senior Engineering Architect to own the end-to-end technical design of a secure AI test and evaluation platform for Government teams. You will shape architecture standards, make critical build-versus-buy decisions, and guide the solution from concept to deployment in a fully remote, US-based team.

You will mentor engineering leads, collaborate with infrastructure, ML, data, and security teams, and communicate complex tradeoffs to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years owning system/solution architecture.
• Experience designing distributed, production cloud-native systems.
• Broad experience across CI/CD, ML infra, data platforms, web services.
• Deep expertise in at least one area: numerical computing, HPC, cloud infra, data science/ML, MLOps, data eng, GenAI, or agentic AI.
• Proficiency in Python and solid software engineering principles.
• Ability to define interfaces, standards, and roadmaps.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end system architecture and technical roadmap for open-source AI solutions.
• Develop interfaces ensuring interoperability across platform services and external systems.
• Evaluate technologies and document tradeoffs for adoption decisions.
• Communicate build-vs-buy-vs-adopt recommendations.
• Ensure designs meet Government hosting, identity, security, accreditation, and interoperability requirements.
• Review designs and establish architecture standards and guardrails.
• Represent the solution during Government reviews and milestones.
• Translate requirements into actionable technical direction for teams.
• Provide guidance on PyTorch, JAX, Ray, Kubeflow, MCP and similar platforms.
• Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the lifecycle.
• Support proposals with architecture docs, estimates, and SOWs.
• Collaborate with engineers across domains to implement target architecture.
• Guide deployment, validation, and sustainment of the solution.
• Mentor engineers and drive clear technical decisions.
