Job summary

The University of Georgia is seeking an Academic Advisor III to support engineering students through holistic advising, academic planning, and student success initiatives. You will manage an advising caseload, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with leadership on process improvements.

Preferred qualifications include 5+ years in advising, institutional advising experience, and completion of UGA’s Academic Advising Certificate Program, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and UGA

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of Academic Advising experience required.
  • UGA/USG Institutional Advising experience preferred.
  • Completion of UGA’s Academic Advising Certificate Program preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) preferred.
  • Expertise in Sage, Degree Works, Athena, and other UGA advising software preferred.
  • Leadership/supervision/mentorship experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of university and college degree requirements.
  • Discretion and independent judgement in advising.
  • Strong ability to interpret and communicate degree requirements to students, faculty and staff.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of University electronic student systems and databases.
  • Effective oral and written communication with students, staff, faculty and leadership.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships for student and team success.

Responsibilities

  • Advise a caseload of prospective and current students and provide holistic academic planning.
  • Mentor Advisor I and II staff and contribute to staff development.
  • Lead or participate in special projects supporting student success initiatives.
  • Partner with leadership to identify process improvements and optimize advising workflows.
