Job summary

Georgia State University’s University Advisement Center seeks an Academic Advisor III to lead advanced advising initiatives and support student success across campuses. You will interpret policies, mentor staff, and participate in program development to improve retention and timely degree completion.

The role supports in-person, virtual, or hybrid services with regular office hours and collaboration across units. A Bachelor’s degree is required; a Master’s is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; 6 months experience as Academic Advisor II or five years related experience.
• Preferred Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or related field.
• Experience in advising, student success, enrollment management, or student affairs within higher education.
• Ability to mentor, train, and lead professional staff and advising initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced academic advising to prospective and enrolled students on degree requirements and graduation planning.
• Interpret university policies and communicate requirements to students, faculty, staff, and families.
• Monitor student progress using advising technologies and data tools.
• Lead advising operations, training, onboarding, and supervision of advisors and student assistants.
