Job summary

BlueScope Buildings is seeking a Lead Engineer in North America to provide project coordination and structural design services. You will model designs and lead design engineers, ensuring safety and code compliance across multi-unit projects.

Responsibilities include managing team performance, mentoring staff, and improving processes while collaborating with manufacturing, PM, and field teams to deliver cost-efficient solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required.
• Professional Engineering registration is required.
• 6 years of engineering experience.
• 2 years on complex multi-unit projects.
• Solid knowledge of building codes.
• Knowledgeable in steel design.
• Experience developing and managing strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provides well utilized designs of members and connections for detailing and manufacturing that meet customer's requirements.
• Assures building's structural integrity and safety.
• Develops own advanced product and procedure knowledge and improves technical knowledge.
• Focuses on achieving department objective and profitability goals and continuous improvement as part of a high performance work team.
• Collaborates with project teams to discuss problems and challenges and help create solutions to move forward in a cost effective and efficient manner.
• Provides technical assistance to customers on specific projects as well as to new entry level Designers.
• Supervises and reviews work of Design Team. Directs, mentors, trains and prepares staff for career development.
• Develops and monitors standard processes
