Job summary

BlueScope Buildings North America is seeking a Lead Engineer to provide project coordination and structural design services, using engineering systems and drawings to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients and internal teams.

You will lead and mentor the design engineers, supervise the work of the design team, ensure building codes are met, and drive process improvements while collaborating with project management, manufacturing, and field erection to deliver safe, cost-efficient solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
• Professional Engineering registration (PE) required.
• Minimum 6 years of engineering experience.
• 2 years on complex multi-unit projects.
• Solid knowledge of building codes.
• Knowledgeable in steel design.
• Experience managing strong customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provides well utilized designs of members and connections for detailing and manufacturing that meet customer requirements.
• Assures building’s structural integrity and safety.
• Develops own advanced product and procedure knowledge and improves technical knowledge.
• Focuses on achieving department objectives and profitability goals and continuous improvement as part of a high performance work team.
• Collaborates with project teams to discuss problems and help create cost-efficient solutions.
• Provides technical assistance to customers on projects and to entry level designers.
• Supervises and reviews work of Design Team; mentors, trains and develops staff.
• Develops and monitors standard processes.
