Job summary

WEG Electric Corp in Duluth, GA is seeking an experienced Lead Engineer to provide technical leadership for complex industrial, power-generation, and grid-stability projects. You will serve as the senior technical authority through the project lifecycle, mentoring engineers and coordinating with customers, EPCs, utilities, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in rotating equipment, MV drives, and power systems, with strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of engineering experience in rotating equipment, MV drives, power systems
• Strong knowledge of motors, generators, MV VFDs, and related electrical systems
• Understanding of industrial, utility, or EPC project environments
• Familiarity with NEMA, IEEE, IEC, UL, and other applicable industry standards
• Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
• Experience supporting customer-facing technical discussions and project execution activities
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, mentor engineers, and influence cross-functional stakeholders
• Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; SAP experience is a plus
• PE license preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership during project pursuit, proposal development, engineering execution, commissioning, and customer support
• Serve as the primary technical resource for customers, utilities, EPCs, consultants, and project stakeholders
• Review technical specifications, assess project risks, and develop engineering solutions
• Support MV VFD, motor, generator, and power system integration activities
• Lead technical reviews, design discussions, FATs, and commissioning activities as required
• Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable industry standards and customer requirements
• Mentor Project Engineers and provide technical guidance
• Coordinate and manage specialized external engineering consultants when required
• Resolve complex technical issues during project execution and startup
