Job summary

Toyota Manufacturing is seeking a Sr. Engineer to lead the Paint Pilot Team across shops for future vehicle changes.

You will report to the Pilot Manager and support the Paint Department’s readiness for upcoming structural changes, equipment upgrades, and raw materials to stay competitive. The role requires leading cross-functional teams, coordinating with design and production, and driving safety, quality, and productivity improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Applied Engineering.
  • Experience in new product introduction or product launch.
  • Ability to direct project management and production support, esp. safety and productivity.
  • Strong project management with ability to guide teams.
  • Experience collaborating across departments and functions.
  • Engineering support for projects, equipment upgrades, and initiatives.
  • Track record leading capital investment projects improving safety, quality and productivity.
  • Strong problem-solving with continuous improvement methods (TPS).
  • Proficient in data analysis and digital tools for decision making.
  • Proficient in 3D software and multiple 3D programs for product understanding.
  • Experience leading teams to achieve launch objectives with KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Major Model Engineer Lead, coordinating year-over-year changepoints.
  • Collaborate with Pilot teams to support changepoint execution.
  • Use North American Paint Operating Plan to develop strategies for changes and model initiatives.
  • Work with North American and Japanese design teams on 3D concepts and specs.
  • Support color selection negotiations and communicate capabilities.
  • Coordinate trial activities to align with gated milestones.
  • Collaborate with internal/external groups on equipment refurbishment and reborn projects.
  • Support production through special projects to improve safety, quality, productivity or cost.
  • Report project status to shop and executive level.
