Job summary

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) seeks a Senior Engineer, Balancing Authority to ensure reliable, accurate, and efficient performance across the East and West Balancing Authority areas. The role oversees scheduling, contingency reserves, and key performance metrics to strengthen grid reliability.

Requires a calculus-based engineering degree (ABET- accredited) and 5 years of engineering experience; PE license is a plus. Hybrid work with relocation options and a robust benefits package are offered.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a calculus-based engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience; PE license may satisfy one year of experience requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee scheduling processes to support Balancing Authority operations across East and West.
  • Identify modeling discrepancies and coordinate with modeling teams to correct issues.
  • Develop and evolve performance metrics to monitor Balancing Authority effectiveness.
  • Improve display functionality and coordinate enhancements for better operator situational awareness.
  • Monitor evolving standards and drive continuous improvement in policies and procedures.
  • Lead root-cause analyses and post-event evaluations to strengthen reliability.
  • Provide technical expertise during dispute investigations to ensure data integrity.
