Job summary

Southwest Power Pool in Little Rock, AR, seeks an Engineer I - Outage Coordination to analyze the SPP footprint and develop operating plans for outages, using tools like PowerWorld, PSSE, and DSATools. You will build power flow models, assess SOL/IROL exceedances, and coordinate with reliability coordinators, with on-call rotations and up to 20% travel.

The role requires a calculus-based engineering degree (ABET) and programming ability in Python; SPP offers strong benefits and a hybrid work

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree required.
• Strong analytical and modeling skills for power systems.

Responsibilities

• Build/develop power flow models using generation, topology and load data.
• Analyze models for SOL or IROL exceedances and develop operating plans.
• Coordinate outages with Reliability Coordinators and other stakeholders.
• Approve outages without compromising Bulk Electric System integrity.
• Automate processes using Python, SQL and PowerShell; use PowerWorld/PSSE/DSATools APIs.
• Provide on-call support and contribute to process documents.

Education

Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university (Electrical, Computer, Industrial, Mechanical, or Systems)
