The City of Lincoln Department of Transportation & Utilities is seeking a highly responsible individual to assist in the administration and coordination of municipal infrastructure projects. The role involves providing professional management and design services for a variety of projects, ranging from routine to complex, related to transportation Capital Improvement Projects. The individual will be responsible for leading projects, reviews, and coordination with other entities, personnel, and outside consultants.
The Department’s mission is to responsibly deliver, enhance, and maintain vital infrastructure and services for the community. The Senior Engineer will uphold this mission by overseeing high-level engineering design work within the Project Delivery Division. The role requires considerable independent judgment in interpreting and applying professional standards, policies, ordinances, regulations, and guidelines to routine and complex engineering design issues for both locally and federally funded projects.
Supervision, work review, and goal setting are conducted in consultation with the Development, Design & Construction Manager, with collaboration among Senior Engineers and Engineers. Strong management skills, effective communication, and interpersonal abilities are essential.

Providing technical guidance, coordinating with other departments and agencies, communicating with the public, and resolving issues through research and solutions are key aspects of the role. Successful delivery of large, complex projects and experience in engineering management are required.
