Job description

STV is seeking an energetic and highly motivated Senior Traffic Engineer/Project Manager for our Austin, TX office. The successful candidate will provide leadership on traffic engineering projects, coordinate with various teams within STV, and be involved with projects across Texas and other central U.S. markets.

This position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in Traffic Engineering and an interest in working on transportation projects with State DOTs, local governments, and the private sector.

Primary roles and responsibilities:
  1. Lead technical services on traffic engineering and ITS projects, including traffic signal design, ITS design, signal timing analyses, lighting, ADA/sidewalk design, signing, and pavement marking.
  2. Conduct traffic engineering studies such as impact analyses, signal timing plans, simulation modeling, warrants, speed studies, capacity analysis, safety, and parking studies.
  3. Develop final plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for various agencies in collaboration with team members.
  4. Prepare reports and presentations on project outcomes.
  5. Mentor and train less experienced staff.
  6. Manage tasks and interact with clients as needed.
  7. Integrate into multiple project delivery teams with overlapping schedules across different states.
  8. Review work for accuracy, ensuring quality assurance and control.
  9. Ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  10. Engage in business development by pursuing new clients and developing existing relationships.
  11. Contribute to proposal development.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Registered Texas Professional Engineer license.
  • Experience in traffic signal design, timing, illumination, operational, and capacity analysis.
  • Proficiency with traffic software such as HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, CORSIM, SIDRA, and transportation planning tools like TransCAD and CUBE.
  • Experience with CAD applications like AutoCAD Civil 3D and MicroStation OpenRoads.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau is desirable.
  • Experience with ESRI ArcGIS is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with TxDOT and Texas city/county projects is preferred.
  • Active participation in professional societies encouraged.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Compensation Range:

$100,226.48 - $133,635.31
