Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Engineer, Core Products based in United States. As a Senior Engineer, Core Products, you will own product features from strategy and design through launch and continuous optimization. You will work across fintech, embedded finance, and real-time payroll systems serving millions of transactions with demanding performance requirements. The role combines full-stack engineering, scalable architecture, AI-native development, and strong product thinking. You will partner closely with product, design, and data teams to shape technical direction and challenge assumptions before implementation. Your work will influence both customer-facing experiences and the systems, data pipelines, and analytics that support them. You will also help introduce modern AI models, autonomous agents, and agentic workflows into engineering practices and product architecture. This is an opportunity to take significant ownership, solve complex technical problems, and directly contribute to products designed to improve financial access for workers.

Accountabilities

• Own features and initiatives end-to-end, partnering with product, design, and data teams to define technical strategy, evaluate trade-offs, and align implementation with customer and business outcomes.
• Design and build resilient, scalable systems that account for latency, transaction volume, downstream data consumers, telemetry, and the quality of events flowing into analytical pipelines.
• Develop and deploy AI-enabled product capabilities, including features powered by modern AI models, autonomous agents, and agentic workflows.
• Drive the adoption of AI-native engineering practices and modern development tools to improve engineering velocity, software quality, and user experiences.
• Take responsibility for products after launch by defining and instrumenting key metrics, monitoring performance dashboards, investigating gaps, and iterating based on user behavior and business results.
• Contribute across the full technology stack, taking ownership of complete products or features from frontend experiences through backend services, databases, infrastructure, and supporting integrations.
• Help shape architecture and product decisions while maintaining a strong focus on performance, security, scalability, operational reliability, and measurable customer impact.
• Collaborate closely in a fast-paced, highly communicative environment where clarity and precision in both written and verbal communication are highly valued.
• Participate in occasional company onsite meetings and project-planning sessions, typically around 2-4 trips per year, depending on business needs.

Requirements

• Deep experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade applications in cloud-native environments, with a strong track record of delivering reliable systems at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI-assisted development workflows to accelerate high-quality software delivery, with an interest in modern AI models, autonomous agents, and agentic engineering practices.
• Strong product and business acumen, including the ability to prioritize customer impact, challenge assumptions, and take accountability for measurable outcomes such as conversion, retention, and operational efficiency.
• Strong understanding of systems and data, particularly event-driven architectures and the relationship between transactional systems, telemetry, and analytical data pipelines.
• Strong full-stack engineering capabilities, including expertise with React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), and Expo/React Native on the frontend.
• Backend experience with Laravel/PHP is beneficial, but equivalent experience designing and building performant backend systems at scale is also valued.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL and AWS, with the ability to make sound infrastructure and database decisions for scalable applications.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Experience in fintech, embedded finance, payments, payroll, lending, BNPL, ACH, or related financial technology environments is highly valued.
• A strong problem-solving mindset, with an interest in performance optimization, security, scalable architecture, and influencing product decisions.
• Ability and willingness to travel occasionally for company onsites and project planning, typically 2-4 times per year.

• Senior Engineer II base salary of $137,000–$147,000 annually.
