Job summary

HIRECLOUT is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to AI-led development, system design, and architecture across our health and well-being technology platform. You will focus on design systems and scalable web and mobile experiences while guiding AI-assisted tooling.

You will work with Engineering, Product, and Design, participate in on-call rotations, and shape how the team adopts AI-native development practices in a modern cloud environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of full stack development experience.
• Experience designing APIs and data models with REST, OAuth2/OIDC, and SQL under load.
• Experience with async/event-driven systems in production (Kafka).
• Production systems on AWS or Azure with containers, Kubernetes, IaC, CI/CD, on-call ownership.
• Defensible testing strategy across unit/integration/contract levels.
• Experience with agentic AI as a development surface.

Responsibilities

• Frame problems with Product and Design and define data models, APIs, and failure modes.
• Direct implementation by decomposing work and guiding AI-built code, with hands-on debugging when needed.
• Own testing as a design decision and ensure coverage via AI-generated tests and validation.
• Incorporate security, reliability, and observability from the design phase onward.
• Maintain accountability for deployments, on-call response, and incident learnings.
• Elevate AI usage by coaching engineers to specify, delegate, and validate rather than hand-coding everything.

Role Overview

We are partnering with an established organization in the health and well-being technology space that provides large-scale, technology-driven support solutions to organizations and individuals globally. The company combines deep subject-matter expertise with modern technology to deliver its services at scale, and serves a broad, longstanding customer base.

This role is part of a broader modernization effort: new customer-facing web and mobile experiences, a unified design system, and AI-powered capabilities across the product suite. Engineering, Product, and Design work together end to end, and this position will help shape how the engineering organization builds software going forward.

This is a high-leverage role for an engineer with hands‑on experience in modern, AI‑led development practices. The successful candidate will spend more time on system design, task decomposition, and technical direction than on writing code line by line — directing AI tools to generate code, automated tests, and first-pass reviews, then applying their own judgment to validate and refine that output before it ships.

Key Responsibilities

• Own problem framing, sequencing, and tradeoffs with Product and Design, and the system design that follows — the data model, the API contracts, the failure modes
• Direct implementation rather than writing it line by line: decompose the work, write the specs, and let AI agents build, dropping into the code yourself when debugging or complexity demands it
• Own testing as a design decision — decide what needs coverage and at what level, direct AI to build it, and validate that the tests prove what they claim
• Build security, reliability, and observability in from the start as design inputs, not production afterthoughts
• Review all work with the same rigor regardless of author, and remain accountable for what ships, deployment calls, on‑call response, and incident learnings
• Raise the bar for how the team works with AI by coaching engineers to specify, delegate, and validate rather than hand‑code everything themselves

Education & Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years of full stack development experience
• Deep server‑side experience in a modern language such as Java, Python, C#, Kotlin, or Go, with a track record of owning services end to end
• Experience designing APIs and data models other people depend on: REST contracts, versioning, OAuth2/OIDC, schema design, and SQL that holds up under real load
• Experience with async and event‑driven systems in production (Kafka or comparable), including idempotency and at‑least‑once tradeoffs
• Experience building and operating production systems at scale on AWS or Azure, including containers, Kubernetes or serverless, IaC, and CI/CD pipelines, with on‑call ownership
• A defensible testing strategy across unit, integration, and contract levels
• Experience being accountable for reliability and security, including SLOs, incident leadership, OWASP and threat modeling, and PHI/HIPAA or comparable regulated‑data experience
• Hands‑on experience with agentic AI as a primary development surface, with the ability to identify what it gets subtly wrong in production systems

Preferred Experience

• LLM application engineering, including RAG, retrieval quality, evals, or LLM observability
• Modern TypeScript frontend work against a design system

Compensation, Benefits And Perks

• Base salary range: $150,000 – $200,000
