Job summary

KellyMitchell seeks an experienced Senior Engineer 2 to support a Servicing Technology team, focusing on Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud technologies, and REST APIs. This hands-on role designs, develops, tests, and implements large-scale production solutions in a collaborative environment.

The contract is approximately 12 weeks (with potential extension to 6 months) and work location is Fort Worth, TX.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of software development experience in production environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java and Spring/Spring Boot.
  • Experience with microservices, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and REST APIs.
  • Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Write, test, and document technical work products including code, scripts, and processes according to organizational standards and practices.
  • Solve complex technical problems and build reusable components and libraries with broad organizational impact.
  • Design, develop, and implement large-scale software solutions in production environments.
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify systemic problems and lead execution of action items to address technical issues.
  • Design thoughtfully integrated systems that follow organizational best practices and enable teams to deliver value with speed, scale, and reliability.
  • Manage technical debt within existing systems and identify opportunities to eliminate or reduce technical debt.
  • Anticipate scaling, latency, durability, performance, resiliency, and reliability challenges and guide teams toward effective solutions.
  • Partner with security teams to incorporate security-conscious practices early in the software development lifecycle.
  • Evaluate technical risks and guide teams toward practical prevention and mitigation strategies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve development and delivery practices across teams and drive implementation of improvements.
  • Identify opportunities for reuse and reduce duplication of effort across teams.
  • Support the development of junior engineers through technical guidance and coaching.
  • Explore emerging technologies and lead development of prototypes with limited guidance when appropriate.

Job Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Engineer 2 to support a client's Servicing Technology team, with a primary focus on software development, Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud technologies, and REST APIs. This is a contract opportunity for a hands-on software engineer who can design, develop, test, and implement large-scale solutions in production environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, cloud platforms, REST APIs, and modern software development practices, while being comfortable solving complex technical problems and working across multiple teams.

Contract Details

Contract - approximately 12 weeks with potential to extend to 6 months

Contract dates: 10/06/2026 - 12/31/2026

Work location: Fort Worth, TX

Onsite, hybrid or remote expectations: Hybrid - onsite Tuesdays-Thursdays and virtual Mondays and Fridays

Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves)
  • 7+ years of software development experience, with experience designing, developing, and implementing large-scale solutions in production environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java
  • Strong experience with Spring and Spring Boot
  • Strong experience developing and working with microservices
  • Experience with cloud technologies and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS
  • Strong experience developing and integrating REST APIs
  • Experience with object-oriented design techniques and principles
  • Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum
  • Experience with DevOps methodologies, including Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment
  • Ability to optimize solutions for performance, resiliency, reliability, and scalability
  • Strong technical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly through verbal, written, code, and diagram-based communication
Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience/training
  • Master's degree in a related technical discipline
  • Airline industry experience
  • Experience with Python, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript
  • Experience with Angular or React
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with Kafka, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Redis
  • Experience with GitHub, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Actions
  • Experience with automated testing tools such as Selenium, TestNG, Postman, SonarQube, Cypress, JUnit, NUnit, PyTest, Cucumber, Playwright, Wiremock, Mockito, or Moq

Work Environment

Location: Fort Worth, TX

Onsite, Hybrid or Remote: Hybrid

Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week

Onsite requirement: Tuesday-Thursday onsite; Monday and Friday virtual

Collaboration with engineering, security, and cross-functional technology teams

Compensation & Benefits

Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $38.00 and $55.00 per hour. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
